Day 11: Thursday, 5 September 2013
Good morning, Hat Yai!
Finally, after close to 2 weeks of solo travelling, I am going back to my hometown – Malaysia! I couldn’t believe that I have made it this long and this far. Solo travelling was never my intended hobby but now it seemed so much fun doing it.
I looked out of the window, staring at the oh-so-quiet road. I bet the Thais have not woken up yet otherwise the sounds of honking will be blaring across the street. Since I took one of the earliest buses available (9.00 am for THB 400. It would be cheaper to buy directly from the bus company. I bought through an agent), I straight away went to the bus company’s office and waited for the bus to arrive.
I put my bags and went out looking for breakfast. Soon, the bus arrived. I boarded the bus and my journey home continued.
Along the journey to the border, I could not help but to have a flashback of what had happened throughout this whole journey – no train to Bangkok from Butterworth, impulsive travelling to Laos, meeting new friends whom I still keep in touch with. It was tiring but fun. It was scary but meaningful.
Soon, the bus reached the border and my heart wept for I know that it would not be this easy for me to have this kind of adventure in the future.
I know this is not the end of my journey. I know there will be other journeys that I will embark on. But it was sad knowing that this particular journey has come to an end.
This is the end of my travelogue. As what Ibn Battuttah said –
“Traveling – it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller.”
